February Gemstone: Amethyst

February’s birthstone Amethyst, is a highly popular purple gemstone. It is a quartz crystal that can come in varying sizes of crystals. The smaller crystal clusters are referred to as Amethyst Druzy, and have become quite the rage.  

The larger elongated geodes or “cathedrals" are popular as sculptures for the home.

My favorite is to cut off the end of the larger single geodes and use the natural shape and surface to design around. These crystal structures are beautiful pieces of sculptures on their own.
